Proverbs 2

This chapter is all about the benefits of wisdom. They are the following:

1) You will understand what is right, what is just, and what is fair (from verse 9).
2) The pursuit of knowledge will become a source of joy to you (from verse 10). Learning for the love of learning is a powerful thing indeed.
3) With wisdom comes understanding and discretion. They will protect you and keep you out of harm's way (from verse 11). I think we can all relate. How many times would discretion have kept us from saying or doing something we later regret?
4) The schemes of wicked men will not cause you to falter. You will not "rejoice in the perverseness of evil" (from verse 14). There is amusement in wicked things, a deeply unsatisfying amusement for all but immediate gratification. What joy it would be to not have these things be able to tempt you.
5) You will not be enticed by the adulteress. You will know that her path leads to the grave, her pleasures corrode (from verse 18).

In conclusion, if you seek after wisdom as for a pearl of great price, you will walk in uprightness and God will guard your course (from verse 8). He will hold victory in store for you (from verse 7). That's a beautiful metaphor. Wisdom is a precious commodity, safely hidden away in the Lord's storehouse until you are ready to work to claim it as your own.
