Interesting. If you're very worried about giving the audience what they're expecting, you'll end up giving them something they've heard before. To lead, to create something unconventional and to coax something extraordinary from your team, you have to be willing to go through a period where the crowd looks at you and is bewildered because they don't know what you're up to and they wish you'd just stick to what you and they both know.

Today I was at the Malcom Baldrige excellence award training program. And we were discussing how leaders get extraordinary results from ordinary people. Leaders must learn the meaning of forbearing, develop the discipline of spiritual perseverence and become men (women) of faith and prayer and obedience and service. We must set a spiritual standard for the next generation.
